Cacao Journey

The cacao in our chocolate - A Cacao journey in images

Chocolate is omnipresent and taken for granted. So self-evident that the raw material of chocolate is consumed in Western societies without knowing anything about it.

To find out more about chocolate, we visit a small village in Ghana. We come across the cacao tree, get to see a cacao fruit for the first time in our lives, and learn something about the further processing steps of the cacao bean until it is shipped to us in Europe in large sacks.

We were not aware that three intermediate products are made from cacao beans. Like so many other aspects that accompany the complex value chain of chocolate and shape the lives of people and nature in the cacao-growing countries every day and into the future.

See below a small Schoggi journey in pictures. It gives us the unique opportunity to get close to a product that is so  alien to us.
